So my friend and I found these old kitchen chairs in my garage. My dad said he had them when he got his first apartment. And for my grad party I'm trying to get a lot of fun, creative things going on so I wanted to spray paint these chairs bright colors.
What You'll Need:
-white spray paint for the base
-any colors you want, as many as you want
-painters tape or masked tape, either one works
-newspaper
-clothes you don't care about to much
When we found the chairs they were way in the back of the garage in a corner, dragging them out was not pretty. They were covered in spiderwebs... spider eggs... spiders... ew. So first wash them off thoroughly. Make sure they're perfectly dry before you start spray painting it or the paint won't stick.
Then you can go ahead and start applying the white spray paint. Try to cover most of it. I made the mistake of spraying way to much of it so Megan didn't get to cover all of her chair. If its a lot lighter than the color you started with then that should be good enough.
When you're done with that, wait for it to dry fully. It will probably dry pretty quickly. Then start sectioning off parts of the chair with the tape and I'd recommend putting down newspaper or paper towels where you don't want the paint to go. Its hard to control spray paint when you're trying to reach small, close together, round things. But luckily this spray paint will cover your mistakes if it has to. You're going to want to paint outside, its bad to breathe in. And if you are going to do it inside make sure you have a vent and its on. Go ahead and start spraying! When getting the legs of the chair you're going to have to put it upside down or on its side, make sure the paint is dry before you lay it down.
TAKE YOUR TIME! Or it could turn out as a rainbow mess.
Here's the finished product: We call them our happy chairs, if you're not happy, you can't sit in it. (:
